I did my one-month internship at Dumena, Ventures Park, Abuja. The whole experience was very memorable and interesting, but I have to say, the journey was stressful and hard. I learnt a lot of things and got introduced to a whole new environment. The workers there were very patient with me and answered my questions kindly and generously.

For my first week at Dumena technologies, I started by improving my knowledge on
programming and different computer languages by reading the books they recommended to me.
After reading, I was assessed on them. I got a little bored just reading books but I knew the
exciting part was in the offing.
Soon, my instructor showed me some new programming skills and let me rewrite programmes
on my own. Thereafter, he examined my work and showed me places where I had done wrong.
From writing programmes, I moved to designing websites and web development. Like I said earlier, my instructor was patient with me when teaching me complex programmes and the
creation of websites. Consequently, I was able to grasp and perform these actions with greater
ease; considering how well he was able to explain the concept of programming to me.
After days and weeks of web design and development, I began learning how to develop games
and the applications used for doing so. I was able to complete a few tasks perfectly with the help
of my instructor and actually enjoyed them. During my spare time, I practiced all that I had
learnt so as to get used to programming and coding. After this, my instructor checked them for
me. I gradually got better and better at programming and coding.

……coding is not as easy as it may sound
Although I learnt a lot during this one-month internship, and enjoyed the experience, the work
itself was very hard and stressful. Waking up early to get to my work place on time, rewriting
programmes, web designing, reading to gain more knowledge on coding is not as easy as it may
sound. I am just glad I was able to persevere with all the stress incurred in working at Dumena.
I feel very lucky to be opportune to do my internship at Dumena and I thank JMC for giving me
such opportunity. I really hope I put all that I learnt into good use one day and think back on this
one month I spent at Dumena learning new things and being grateful for this opportunity.
