Mass of the Holy Spirit, which is the official opening of the academic year at Jesuit Memorial College, took place on Sunday 29 September 2019. The chief celebrant was the Acting President of the school, Fr. Udochukwu Ugorji, SJ. The Principal, Fr. Ese Ehwerherume SJ, concelebrated.
The Mass was followed by the award of certificates to students who distinguished themselves during the 2018/2019 academic year in academics, activities, and behavior.
Akalonu Onyinyechi Chinenye (JS 2C) was the overall best student in academics, Stanley Tamunoye Lois (SS 2D) was the best-behaved student and Okereke Chikamso Karen (SS 1A) was the person for others.
Akalonu Onyinyechi Chinenye (JS 2C) won 6 of the 10 subject awards for JS 1 and came the second position in the remaining 4. Ofonime Iniobong Idongesit (JS 3D) won 5 of the 10 subject awards for JS 2 and, along with Attah Kamsiyochukwu Martha (JS 3C), featured among the top 3 Obidike Chidera Christine (SS 1A) won 7 of the 10 subject awards for JS 3.
Akalonu Onyinyechi Chinenye (JS 2C) and Obidike Chidera Christine (SS 1A) were also among 4 students nominated for the award of the best-behaved student.
