Women are core members of our society today. Long gone are the times where women were only good for taking care of the house and being nothing without a man.

Now, women are independent and can live their own life without the influence of a man. That being said, I would like to use this opportunity to appreciate all the women around the world. The world is a better place because of you. You help in the formation of your children, show love and affection to your husbands, take care of your parents and you are also the heart of the home. Thank you so much for everything.
To all the female staff of Jesuit Memorial College, you are very much appreciated. You all are like our mothers and aunts away from home. I would also like to use this opportunity to show specially show gratitude to some of you.
Mrs. Stella NWAGWU is the staff coordinator of my religious group, Holy Family society. She makes conscious efforts to ensure she attends meetings and makes the environment conducive for others to share their experiences and open up to other members of the group. She talks to us and advises us like she would do to her children. I have not forgotten most of what she has told us and I still carry it with me to this day. Even during my time as the president of the group, not once did she made the work difficult for me and my fellow officials.
Another person I would like to recognize is Ms. Oluomachi MONDAY. Being a nurse, you are expected to be sympathetic and patient towards those you attend to. Nurse Oluomachi does this with ease. Anytime I come to the clinic with a problem, no matter how small, she always attends to me wholeheartedly and does not show any sign of indifference even if I came for that reason a week ago.
Ms. Chisom UMEH is a crucial member of the choir as she spends her weekends holding meetings with choristers for rehearsals to make sure that the Mass is well animated. She also spends her break times during the week rehearsing the Responsorial Psalms for Sunday Masses with assigned cantors. Admist all this, she still carries out her duties as the assistant examination officer diligently. She ensures that all teachers submit their questions in time for assessment tests and examination, and also follows up on anyone who has not yet done so. She also makes efforts to correct any indiscipline which may occur among students with the aim of making them better persons. I have had a personal encounter of this and I am very grateful for the words which she spoke to me.
Finally, Ms. Baginwa ONEYOR is the secretary of the chaplaincy and she is always seen at the front desk when you enter the administration office. She ensures that all religious activities and events are carried out properly and works with the Spiritual Life Prefects to ensure that all liturgical activities operate smoothly. She is also always around on Sundays ensuring that everyone is in their respective religious groups. I am most especially grateful for the conversations which we have had since becoming the president of my religious group. She may not have known this before but I truly am grateful.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, thank you all for the incredible contributions you make to both the college and society as a whole.
