Six and a half decades of destruction,
Creation and mediocrity!
A story told onetime too many.
Where do I begin?!
Is it with the politicians who quite
Literally take more than they chew?
Or the majority’s being
Shared among ‘the few’?
Is it the leaders of tomorrow
Who are chained to yesterday?
Or the ‘life savers’ taking
Life day by day?
But wait!
Let’s not forget about
The broken healthcare
Or the viper’s sneer.
The blood sacrifices that
Dampen the street air,
And the people still fighting
To see the light
Everybody dreams big,
But the work that gets
Them there is forgotten
And all of a sudden everyone seems
To be the prophet begotten.
But that’s not all.
Under all these lies ethnic segregation,
Religious fanatism and the ideology
That I am better than my neighbor.
A land flowing with milk and honey
Blocked by blood,
Backed by many atrocities
And once again,
We make an appeal likely
To greet the deaf
But Nigeria can only thrive
When the system is rebirthed
