Carol Night 2019 took place on Wednesday 11 December 2019 in the school chapel. It began at 7:10 pm with a beautiful song rendition by Lois Stanley titled “Read all about it”. This awakened in many the spirit of the Christmas season. Our acting president and chaplain, Fr Udochukwu Ugorji, SJ, then gave an opening speech and prayer. He mentioned that there would be 9 lessons, among other things.
Odunze Ogechi proclaimed the first lesson and was followed by the beautiful voices of Ishiekwene Deborah, Ndubuisi Stephanie and Ben-Ogbaini Benita. The trio sang “Wreckless Love”. Chikani Nzube read the second lesson. A duet, comprising Anonyai Nneamaka and Okafor Somtochukwu, followed with a breath-taking rendition of “Alleluia”. Ekejiuba Ikemdinachi took the next lesson. This was followed by a smashing clarinet rendition of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” by Chikani Nzube and Odunze Ogechi. The night continued in a pleasant alternation of readings and carols. However, Fr Ugorji briefly interrupted Egwuchim Swithin as the latter was proclaiming the ninth lesson from the Gospel according to St John. This was because some students were being noisy. He encouraged everyone to pay attention to the reading.
The carol night ended at 10:01 pm with a closing prayer led by Fr Ugorji. The entire student body would testify that it was a beautiful night.
