During the three days of our Magis retreat, I observed a lot of things about myself I never bothered to look into. It was a very moving program that enabled me to become a better, more mature person and honestly, I believe that every member of my set benefited from the retreat.

Personally, I felt that I was really motivated for the retreat because of the meditation we had at the beginning. It was really moving and calming. The reflection helped me to become more observant especially in my perception of sound and I feel like that is something a lot of people take for granted. I was really shocked to see how well I was able to deduce the sounds I perceived, from the gentle voice of the person leading the meditation. The groups we later formed enabled me to talk to people I usually won’t talk to, and it also helped us share our personal goals.

The second day of the retreat was really impacting for me because of the burden exercise; I got to talk to people that I haven’t talked to in a while because of some excesses and more importantly I reconciled with people who I have hurt and people who hurt me. It was a moment of growth for me really because I was able to let go of past troubles and let myself be free.

The final day was the most engaging for me, we were grouped, we had a leader who assisted us in our group activities. Ours was Mr. Terlumun Ayaakaa, he was helpful, very engaging and understanding towards us. I also got to know some desires, struggles and goals that the other group members carried, and I had no idea some of them even had such. We also represented a recap of our Magis retreat in the form of a drawing; honestly, I feel like ours was the best.

Generally, the Magis retreat had inclined me towards Ignatian Spirituality. It was engaging, proactive and of course fun. I really hope we can do something like this in the future, just maybe like a week. I want to thank the people involved in the planning of the retreat. Thanks to Father Uche Oguike, S.J., the college chaplain and his team for an enriching experience.
